Promote Unity Among Nigerians Gov Ifeanyi Okowa Tells Politicians.

"Politicians in the country have been told to promote peace and unity amongst the people.Governor Ifeanyi Okowa made the call at a reception organized by the Isoko North people in honour of former Governor James Ibori at Owhelogbo.

"The event was attended by cream of politicians within and outside the state, including the former Governor of the State,Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan and his Edo state counterpart Comrade Adams Oshiomole,former Deputy Gov,Chief Benjamin Elue,State Chairman of the PDP Barr Kingsley Esiso, national and state lawmakers,top government functionary,traditional chiefs amongst others.

Okowa said politicians in the State should see themselves as brothers irrespective of political or ethnic affiliations,adding that politicians should speak with one voice to attract the people's respect.

He described Ibori as a leader with a difference and one who has succeeded in building human and one political structure,adding that Ibori made a solid foundation for his predecessors to build on.

In his remark,Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan said Ibori has impacted positively on the politics of the country and warned politicians to desist from pull -him -down syndrome and respect leadership at all levels.

Also speaking,Comrade Adams Oshiomole said Ibori made history by fighting for resource control and called on politicians to put aside party affiliation and form a united front in addressing the challenges confronting the people.

"The chief host and former Secretary to the State Government,Comrade Ovuzore Macaulay described Ibori as a living legend who has impacted positively on the lives of people,especially Isoko land, hence the need to honour him.

Responding,Chief Ibori enjoined politicians to always speak for their people and shun politics of blackmail and acrimony.Highlight of the occasion was the cutting of the reception cake.
